The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees is the competence centre for migration and integration in Germany. It is particularly responsible for carrying out the asylum procedure, for realising the support and co-ordination of integration as to language and social issues and integration into society, as well as for promoting voluntary return. The Federal Office is engaged in scientific research on migration and integration matters in order to obtain analytical statements for steering immigration into Germany. The Federal Office supports numerous national and international projects, which concern its task areas.
