| Description | The Interpreters’ Pool is an excellent example of direct practical cooperation between Immigration Services of the GDISC network.
The aim of this project is to support Immigration Services who are facing a lack of interpreters capacity in their country by increasing the number of languages available to them during asylum interviews. This is done by giving them access to the interpreters capacity used by other Immigration Services by means of videoconferencing equipment.
During the implementation phase, from October 2007 until September 2008, each beneficiary will be able to make use of this method of remote interpretation. The added value of using videoconferencing equipment is that all parties involved have instant visual contact and non-verbal communication of the asylum applicant can be observed.
