Background information During the Swedish GDISC Chairmanship there was an attempt to start a project together with EASO on methods to be used in the Early Warning and Preparedness System that EASO was developing, however this did not transpire. Thus, Switzerland presented an initiative on cooperation on prognosis at the Steering Group Meeting in Brussels in March 2013. After the proposal was approved by the Steering Group, the GDISC Prognosis Network was established in late 2013. In the GDISC Prognosis Network prognosis experts collaborate with the objective to develop and improve tools for the prognosis of asylum claims and migration flows. The aim is to facilitate decision-making of high-level management on the allocation of budget and resources. The network is a platform for presenting and exchanging methods and experience in prognosis, economic analysis and verification of prognoses. The network exchanges information regularly, including phone conferences.
